Meet the Instructor

Rick Sopka


A native of Florida, Rick Sopka has been a PGA Professional since 1997 and was named 2012 North Florida PGA Teacher of the Year. Rick has competed in two National Club Professional Championships and played on three North Florida Section Cup Teams and has won several North Florida Section and West Central Chapter sanctioned tournaments.

Rick has been instructing at Mangrove Bay Golf Course since 2008 and teaches hundreds of students a year ranging from beginners to touring professionals. Through the use of video and software, Rick can break down the golf swings of his students and deliver faster and more precise results.

Charlaine Tatz


Charlaine Tatz is a PGA Professional. She competed in 13 USGA national golf events throughout the United States over a period of 11 years. She also competed in two LPGA tour events by the age of 18, and played on the Symetra Mini-Tour for one year. She received a full golf scholarship from the University of Alabama where she earned a teaching degree.

Charlaine offers professional instruction at Twin Brooks Golf Course, where she has empowered golfers to play at their full potential since 1994. Charlaine works with her students’ physical capabilities and focuses on foundational skills to deliver lasting results.

Jonah Johnson


Jonah Johnson is a PGA Professional who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Golf Management with a minor in Business from Eastern Kentucky University. He has been a golf instructor since 2013. He utilizes Flight Scope fusion tracking technology, Aim Point putting method and V1 swing analysis technology during his golf lessons.

Jonah is a passionate and driven golf instructor who has worked with students who vary in age and skill level. He is gifted in his ability to take the complex mechanics of a golf swing and breaking it down into simple understandable instruction, so a student can extract more enjoyment from the game of golf. He believes everyone has their own swing and deserves a personalized plan for improvement. His past students describe him as extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He is confident that teaching golf is what he is born to do, because he obtains so much satisfaction from his students’ excitement.

Jessica Negron


Jessica Negron is a PGA Associate who graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science. She played 4 years on the FSU golf team and served as the Team Captain. She was awarded the Western New York PGA Assistant Player of the Year in 2017 and was the first women’s champion for the West Central Chapter of NFPGA in 2018. She is an experienced golf instructor with a strong work ethic, who has been teaching the game for 8 years.

Jessica’s teaching philosophy is focusing on establishing a consistent and successful golf game with the student’s natural ability. As an instructor, she receives great fulfillment when her students gain success with their golf game.
